New water and wastewater rates

In March, the City Council voted to approve an ordinance to increase water and wastewater rates for the first time since 2012.  The new rates which are an increase of 8% are effective with the billing that will be due on June 19, 2017.

Rates will be based on the volume of water or wastewater service as follows: 

Residential Water

$16.20 minimum base rate

2,001-10,000 gallons -- $3.94 per 1,000 gallons

10,001-20,000 gallons -- $5.02 per 1,000 gallons

Above 20,001 gallons -- $6.10 per 1,000 gallons

Plus $0.10 per 1,000 gallons fee assessed by the North Texas Groundwater Conservation District.

Commercial Water

$27.00 minimum base rate

2,001-10,000 gallons -- $7.96 per 1,000 gallons

10,001-20,000 gallons -- $8.50 per 1,000 gallons

Above 20,001 gallons -- $9.04 per 1,000 gallons

Plus $0.10 per 1,000 gallons fee assessed by the North Texas Groundwater Conservation District.

Senior (65 and older) Water

$7.20 base rate

2,001-10,000 gallons -- $3.94 per 1,000 gallons

10,001-20,000 gallons -- $5.02 per 1,000 gallons

Above 20,001 gallons -- $6.10 per 1,000 gallons

Plus $0.10 per 1,000 gallons fee assessed by the North Texas Groundwater Conservation District.

Bulk water. For consumers who purchase bulk water, a $1,000.00 deposit and a $250.00 monthly rental fee for the meter will be required when purchasing water in bulk quantities. There will be an additional charge of $5.94 for each 1,000 gallons of water purchased.



Residential rate wastewater

Minimum bill (includes 2,000 gallons): $37.80.

Per 1,000 gallons: $2.99.

Commercial rate wastewater

Minimum bill (includes 2,000 gallons): $37.80.

Per 1,000 gallons: $2.99.

Institutional rate wastewater

Minimum bill (up to 6,000 gallons): $33.48.

Per thousand thereafter used: $1.35.

Combined residential/commercial (for those customers who are residing in a place of business or in an area used for commercial and residential purposes) wastewater

Minimum bill (up to 6,000 gallons): $39.96.

Per thousand thereafter used: $1.43.

Double residential customer (for those customers who may have two residences connected to the same meter) wastewater

Minimum bill (up to 2,000 gallons): $33.48.

Per thousand thereafter used: $1.43.

Secondary meter service (for those customers who have an additional meter) wastewater

Per thousand: $1.35.

Multifamily wastewater

 $17.28 per month surcharge per living unit.


Water and wastewater rates help pay for more than just water.  They pay for chemicals and power for delivery and treatment.  Water and wastewater rates also fund costs related to pipes, pumps, storage and treatment facilities, and infrastructure including building new supply sources and delivery systems for growth.
