Video Surveillance Program

  1. Sometimes things happen to your property (ie. homes, vehicles, yards, etc) without your knowledge, until it is already too late. Wouldn't it be nice if one of your neighbors had a video surveillance system at their house or business which could possibly identify the culprit?

  2. Krum is a great place to live, however, it is not a perfect place. People do commit crimes here occasionally and sometimes, the Krum Police Department needs the help of the public to solve certain crimes, such as car burglaries, home burglaries, criminal mischief, etc. This is where the use of video surveillance systems could help us.

  3. If you have made the worthy investment of a video surveillance system on you property, you doubtless would like to have criminals in your neighborhood caught. You can help to do that.

  5. The Krum Police Department is starting a VOLUNTARY video surveillance watch list. Meaning, if you have a video surveillance system at your house, we would like to know. If something happens, such as a car burglary around the corner from you, we can send you an email requesting that you look at specific dates and times on your surveillance system. Hopefully, we can capture video or an image of the person committing the crime, and then we can get the video or image out to the public a lot faster.

  6. Participating in this program is a great way for us to interact with the community, and also a great way for you to be able to help your fellow neighbors. As a citizen of Krum, you would be taking an active role in deterring crime in our city.

  8. This would be a completely voluntary program and you would be under no obligation to assist the police department. The Krum Police Department would have no access to your cameras, without your consent. Providing the police department with a copy of any video or any image your surveillance system may have captured, could be the difference between catching a criminal and letting a crime go unsolved.

  9. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Krum Police Department at 940-482-3171.

  10. Please fill out the following form if you would like to voluntarily join the Krum Police Department Video Surveillance System Watch List. You may be notified of a crime in your area and be asked for your assistance in reviewing your camera system. You can opt out of this watch list at any time.
